Play to wins- our thoughts

Draft
Play to wins: Play the game during the event and be entered into a draw to win it.

Our collected thoughts (one day maybe a proper article)

We love play to wins, a chance for folks to win something without spending a penny, we have a large volunteer team and a focus of providing a lot of taught games for guests.
Demoing / teaching play to wins,- is a win win, the guests get games to play, the games can be won and the publishers who donate the games know they games are getting the best experience.
By having the games set up and ready to be taught, you can get a lot more games played vs borrowing the game, setting up, self teaching.
Also by teaching the game you can set up a balance start and mitigate bad luck or card draw.

Our rules
1 entry per player per game.
1 win per player if you are drawn to win 2 games, you chose which one to win and which will pass to second place.
For longer games, a demo or a few rounds are fine.

Pros:
Games get played, a lot more valuable exposure than adding it to a raffle.

Cons:
Administration
If you have a bad system people will game it at a possible determent to you event. (Gamers will game the system)
-Book out system- people booking out the game with no intention of playing.
-Book out system – with entry per book out- same as above but more wasted time – Solution One entry per person per game.
The name– Play to Win, we’ve had people think they need to win the game to get an entry, this has led to negative competitive behavour and stress for the guests and teachers. – Solution, better signage, explain at game start.
